NPR Announces Clock Changes

In a memo to NPR Areps, CCO Kinsey Wilson announced that the changes in the NPR news magazine clocks will be launched on Monday, November 17.   Some changes have been made as a result of system feedback on the draft clocks released in June.  Also, announced were clarifications/ changes to the "business rules" that were previously floated.

Key new developments:

1) NPR will not implement a prohibition on inserting other national/international material in cutaways.  The previous proposal only allowed local material to be inserted.  This was "one issue on which there appeared to be broad consensus".

2) The launch of new clocks for Morning Edition, All Things Considered and their weekend versions will be November 17.  A series of webinars and a session at the upcoming PRPD conference will help assure that stations are prepared with best practices for smooth transition.  The clocks and associated rules are posted at https://www.nprstations.org/clocks/index.cfm

3) Updated program-specific terms and conditions for  will be available to stations no later than next week, in time for stations to review before signing FY15 PPF/Program License Agreements.
