Former NPR news staffer Larry Abramson is assuming the position of dean at the U. of Montana's Journalism School. Named to the post in April, Larry is the first dean to come from a non-newspaper background. The
Billings Gazette quotes outgoing dean, Denise Dowling: “I think that reflects the changing world of journalism. We’re quite excited to have a leader who comes from a different platform.”

Montana Public Radio, also part of the university also hired NPR veteran, Eric Whitney as news director. He succeeds Sally Mauk who held that position for 30 years.
