Stations Collaborate on Music X

A consortium of public radio stations is creating a new music video service, the Music X. It's funded by $750,000 from CPB.

Collaborating are:

• WXPN, Philadelphia
• WFUV, New York
• KUTX, Austin
• KTBG, Kansas City
• KCRW, Los Angeles

Music X's website explains:

"We are building a new video service for music lovers to watch exclusive and intimate live performance recordings of their favorite musicians and to discover new bands that they have never before seen or heard.

"What we are going to do: We are a consortium of public radio stations from all over the country. We discover emerging and established local and national artists, invite them to our studios and film them playing live sets of music. Our network of music discovery radio stations, our studios, and the rabid music fans in our communities are core ingredients in powering our service to create this content and share it, so that more people can discover these artists and enjoy their music."
