NPR Lays off 28, Cancels Tell Me More

In a further round of cutbacks, NPR today announced the cancellation of Tell Me More and layoffs of 28 positions within the news division.  TMM host Michelle Martin will remain at NPR as:

"...part of an initiative to incorporate the kind of coverage of issues of race, identity, faith, gender and family that appear on the show. Martin will appear on the network's primary newsmagazines, online and in public events."

NPR's only remaining in-house radio productions are the drive time news magazines, Morning Edition, All Things Considered and their weekend versions and newscasts throughout the day . In 2013, NPR dropped their other daily midday show, Talk of the Nation. The other programs in their catalog are co-productions based at member stations or other outside producers.  Through such arrangements, many stations still acquire midday shows Fresh Air, The Diane Rehm Show, On Point and Here and Now.
