Arnold, Neisler and Spear Elected to PRPD Board

Dale Spear, WFAE, Charlotte
Keith Neisler, KUT, Austin
Michael Arnold, Wisconsin PR

PRPD announced today the election to its board of directors of Michael Arnold, Wisconsin Public Radio; Dale Spear, WFAE, Charlotte; and Keith Neisler, KUT, Austin.  Elected by the members of PRPD, these individuals were chosen from a record field of thirteen candidates.  The new board members will be seated at the upcoming spring board meeting and retreat in April.

PRPD president, Arthur Cohen said “The three new board members bring a depth of knowledge and width of experience that will help PRPD remain vital in this changing media world.  They have worked across public radio’s formats, stations of all sizes and budget sizes, reflecting the varied PRPD constituency.”  He continued, “We were fortunate to have such a large number of highly qualified candidates which resulted in a record number of ballots and a very close election. We are excited to welcome our new board members.”

Michael Arnold is the only former board member ever to run (and win) a new term..  He last served on the board in 2004 and was chair from 1999-2004.

Retiring from the PRPD board are Todd Mundt (NPR Digital); Jeffrey Hansen (KUOW); and Jo Anne Wallace (KQED), none of whom competed for the positions.  All have made significant contributions to PRPD’s evolution and ability to serve the content professionals in public radio. Mundt was chair of the board for the past five years, Hansen chaired the Board Development and Training committees, and Wallace has been a key contributor to PRPD’s representation of members at the national level.
