NPR announced today that executive editor for news, Ellen McDonnell will be retiring after 35 years with the organization. She will likely continue working until the end of this year.
This is the second high level departure from the news department in the recent months. Senior VP of programming, Margaret Low Smith left last month to join The Atlantic.
