Game Over for Fair Game May 30

It appears that Public Radio International is pulling the plug on Fair Game, the news/talk/comedy/music program hosted by Faith Salie. PDs have received a heads up that the game is over as of Friday, May 30.

Fair Game bowed with considerable press about Salie, a Rhodes scholar who, after Oxford, went on to be quite possibly the only public radio host to have appeared in both Sex and the City and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

Aside from being the show's host, Salie was credited as Fair Game's co-creator and writer-producer.

Nooooooooo!!

I love the show... she's brilliant, funny, and insightful. The best thing on Public Radio.

I'm a little disappointed that with all the big talk about something new and different on public radio -- at night -- that the plug was pulled after less than a year and a half.

What a shame. I'm really curious about the criteria for this decision. It really was the best thing on the radio at night. It doesn't make any sense. Would they rather have some dry dull show that fits more with what people expect from public radio?

Fair Game was smart, funny, and seemed younger than most public radio shows. Maybe they should have promoted it more?
