And, just what is The Takeaway? The Times writes:Mr. Griffith (Graham Griffith, executive producer of “The Takeaway) envisions “The Takeaway” as a “breakfast table,” where a nationwide conversation can take place. Mr. Hockenberry uses a more high-tech metaphor, calling it in an interview “a massive multiplayer game, the rules and title of which are, basically, curiosity. The Times also discussed other new public radio programs :Vocalo, The Bryant Park Project and Tell Me More.
The Times is one of the collaborators on The Takeaway. Others include Public Radio International, the BBC World Service and WGBH-Boston.

I do not have a favorable first impression of The Takeaway. I don't like the way the interviewers interrupt their guests, and I don't feel that the news is being given sufficient analysis. Nothing I've hear them report is so time sensitive that it must be in real time. So why should I have to put up with a rushed, shabby delivery?
The Takeaway is neither healthy breakfast nor multi-player game. It's is simply a disaster, and it is *not* what public radio is all about. It's precisely what listeners tune to NPR stations to avoid. A real hearty disappointment.

I guess you're happy with all those senile old fart listeners who are all going to die soon. No one under 40 wants to listen to NPR. What is public radio going to do to remedy that?
hey under-40 anon: just keep flipping those burgers and paying into social security. where do you think we get the money to send npr?
and get off my lawn!!!!
I really could care less about NPR's demographic problems, all I know is I HATE the takeaway. I'm a 20 something teacher and wake up to NPR every morning. I can't stand their annoying gab, that awful noise they make right before an audio clip makes me want to die, and after an hour of listening I've learned nothing no and "take away" anxiety and misery. What's more is it is effecting my school. Most of the teachers at my school are NPR types in their 20s and 30s, and we all hate it, half of us have switched to the awful morning radio of the local Hiphop station. Please end the takeaway!
I have started a petition to improve or remove this show. http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/thetakeaway/
I loathe it too. Morning editipn gives facts, intelligent balanced comment and plenty of wit ... if i wanted to listen to people giggling and bloviating i could listen to some other morning show. Back to status quo please!
